We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Systems Engineer/Test Engineer to join our dynamic team in Linthicum, Maryland. Role Overview

As a Systems Engineer/Test Engineer, your primary responsibility will be the execution of detailed test scripts. These scripts are designed for the rigorous verification of software, hardware, and overarching system requirements for various space applications. This role is fundamental in maintaining the integrity and performance of complex systems that operate in demanding space environments.

A strong understanding of RF (Radio Frequency) systems is highly desired, with particular emphasis on technologies such as RADAR, SIGINT (Signals Intelligence), or COMMS (Communications). Your expertise in these areas will be invaluable in troubleshooting and validating system functionalities. The position also calls for individuals with demonstrable programming and scripting skills, which are essential for developing, modifying, and improving test procedures and automation. Furthermore, hands-on experience and a working knowledge of various RF test equipment are crucial. This includes familiarity with Signal Generators, Spectrum Analyzers, Oscilloscopes, and Power Meters, among others, to accurately measure and analyze system performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Test Execution: Methodically execute pre-defined test scripts to verify compliance of software, hardware, and system requirements for space applications.
  • System Verification: Play a pivotal role in the verification phase, ensuring all components and systems meet stringent performance and quality standards.
  • RF System Analysis: Apply knowledge of RF systems, including RADAR, SIGINT, or COMMS, to understand system behavior and troubleshoot issues during testing.
  • Scripting and Automation: Utilize programming and scripting skills to assist in the development, modification, and maintenance of test scripts, enhancing test efficiency and coverage.
  • Equipment Operation: Proficiently operate and interpret results from various RF test equipment, performing accurate measurements and analysis.
  • Problem Identification: Identify, document, and track discrepancies or failures encountered during testing, contributing to root cause analysis and resolution.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including design engineers, software developers, and other test engineers, to ensure comprehensive system validation.

Compensation and Benefits

  • This contract position offers a competitive pay rate ranging from $80 to $85 per hour. The final rate will be determined based on the candidate's skills, education, experience, and other relevant qualifications. In addition to the attractive hourly rate, featured benefits include:

Basic Qualifications

To be considered for this role, candidates must meet one of the following criteria:

  • Possess a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) discipline.

  • Hold a High School Diploma accompanied by a minimum of 4 years of relevant military experience specifically with sensor systems (ideally RADAR), integration and test activities, or operation and maintenance roles.

  • Have a High School Diploma along with at least 4 years of experience as a military control room console operator.

  • Possess a High School Diploma and at least 4 years of defense industry work experience with sensor systems (ideally RADAR), integration and test, or operation and maintenance.

Preferred Qualifications

Candidates with the following experience will be highly regarded:

  • Proven experience with RADAR and/or ESA (Electronically Scanned Array) integration and test.

  • Direct experience with Space Payload or Space Vehicle (Satellite) integration and test, particularly in a clean room environment.

  • Proficiency in programming in C or MATLAB for understanding, editing, and improving existing codebases.

  • Skilled in scripting with Python or Tcl for understanding, editing, and improving existing scripts.

  • Familiarity with collaborative development tools such as Confluence, Jira, and Bitbucket.
