The Role: Director, Vendor Management
We are looking for a visionary leader to join our team as the Director of Vendor Management. This role is mission-critical to Justworks’ operational success and strategic growth. You will establish and lead the end-to-end vendor management lifecycle program that spans sourcing, procurement, contract negotiation, onboarding, performance management, compliance oversight, and risk mitigation.
Unlike traditional vendor management roles that primarily focus on cost control, this position is designed for a strategic leader who can balance cost optimisation with innovation, risk governance, and long-term value creation. You will be hands-on in designing frameworks, policies, and processes from the ground up, while also cultivating senior-level vendor relationships that directly impact the customer experience.

Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Define and execute a long-term vendor management roadmap. Establish goals that balance immediate savings with sustainable growth, compliance, and innovation.
- Lifecycle Management: Implement a comprehensive vendor lifecycle framework that includes identification, due diligence, contract negotiation, onboarding, service-level tracking, risk management, and offboarding.
- Vendor Relationships: Cultivate deep partnerships with critical vendors. Set clear performance benchmarks, resolve escalations, and ensure Justworks receives measurable value from every engagement.
- Risk & Compliance: Partner with stakeholders in security, privacy, legal, and finance to embed compliance frameworks (GDPR, CCPA, SOC 2) into every vendor contract and process.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with executives and department heads to align vendor management with business goals, from technology scalability to employee benefits programs.
- Technology & Process Optimisation: Evaluate and implement vendor management systems (VMS) and procurement automation tools that improve visibility, reporting, and decision-making.
- Data & Analytics: Build dashboards and KPIs that measure vendor performance, cost efficiency, risk exposure, and compliance health. Present insights to senior leadership regularly.
Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you will bring a strong blend of technical knowledge, strategic vision, and hands-on execution capability.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Procurement, Finance, or Risk Management (Master’s preferred).
- 10–12 years of progressive vendor management and procurement experience, including at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Proven ability to establish vendor management programs in high-growth SaaS or international organisations.
- Deep understanding of procurement law, compliance frameworks (GDPR, SOC 2, CCPA), and contract management best practices.
- Strong negotiation, influencing, and stakeholder management skills across executive and operational levels.
- Hands-on approach to building programs, processes, and policies from scratch.
- Experience selecting and implementing vendor management software and tools.

Compensation
